Since its release last year, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has been poised to be a major contender in the Oscars race, especially in the Best Animated Feature Film category where the first film also won five years ago.

For the past few months, we've seen the film get various accolades from different award-giving bodies and it consistently cemented itself as one of the frontrunners to win the top animation prize at the Oscars.

Now, the day has finally come as the nominations for this year's Oscars have been announced and, luckily, two Marvel movies were able to make it on the list.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse managed to earn a nomination in the Best Animated Feature Film category at the 2024 Oscars. It will be competing against films such as The Boy and the Heron, Elemental, Nimona, and Robot Dreams.

Just like the first film, it is the only nomination that it received in this year's Oscars race despite being included in the shortlist in categories such as Best Visual Effects and Best Original Score.

Meanwhile, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 nabbed a nomination in the Best Visual Effects category, making it the only recognition that the MCU received this year.

The James Gunn film will be competing against other nominees in the category such as The Creator, Godzilla Minus One, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, and Napoleon.

It was also an exciting morning for MCU actors such as Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Bradley Cooper, Jeffrey Wright, Sterling K. Brown, and Annette Bening as they all managed to earn nominations in their respective acting categories.

Now, all eyes are on whether the two Marvel movies will end up prevailing in their respective categories. As for Across the Spider-Verse, it has a great shot at winning given the acclaim that it has received so far although The Boy and the Heron could also possibly win the prize as well.

In the case of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it has a decent shot since none of the nominees are also Best Picture contenders although no MCU film has ever won the category since the franchise's inception.
