First things first, let's talk about who Sofia Sanchez is.

Sofia is described as a 14-year-old Ukrainian-American actress, model, and advocate. She is best known for her video, Down Syndrome Is Not Scary, which went viral in 2016. The actress was only 7 at the time when her mother, Jennifer Sanchez, decided to compile her videos and publish them online.

Through these videos, the mother-daughter duo was able to build a following and raise awareness for Down's Syndrome. This also led Sofia to be cast in the TV series, Switched at Birth. She also appeared in the movie, For Paloma. In addition to acting, Sofia has been part of ad campaigns for brands like Old Navy and Target.

Her adoption story inspired Scholastic to produce a series of picture books entitled You Are Enough, You Are Brave, and You Are Loved. Not to mention, she has also written books that spread acceptance, empowerment, and love.

She was also invited by Mattel to launch the first Barbie with Down Syndrome after appearing in the Barbie movie premiere. Sofia also conducts speaking engagements with TED Talk.

Who Does Sofia Sanchez Play in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songs and Snakes?

Sofia Sanchez plays Wovey in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songs and Snakes. Her character grew up in District 8, which she represented as the female tribute for the 10th Hunger Games.

Although her character in the book was not explicitly written as disabled, Wovey was described as "a runt". Her mentor, Hilarius Heavensbee, said that Wovey had "zero personality."

Because of this, she did not gain any sponsors.

Does Wovey Die in the Book?

For most of the Games, Wovey stayed hidden in the tunnels without any food or water.

Because of how long she managed to hide, Wovey's mentor wondered whether she was already dead. He even referred to her as "no-show Wovey."

When she finally managed to go out of the tunnels, Wovey appeared skeletal and even had sunken cheeks. Since she grew up in a poor district, Wovey was used to endure thirst and hunger for three days.

After seeing her, Hilarius sent Wovey food and water. Unfortunately, Wovey picked up the bottled water that Lucy Gray Baird left behind for Coral. Lucy mixed this bottle with rat poison, which led to Wovey's quick death.
