Silicon Valley's Kumail Nanjiani Joins the Twilight Zone Reboot

News had recently come out that the next season of Silicon Valley will be delayed, and it looks like Kumail Nanjiani is going to be making the most of it. He's just joined the cast of Jordan Peele's The Twilight Zone reboot.

As per TV Line, Nanjiani will be joining a cast that had already included the likes of Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation) and Sanaa Lathan (The Cleveland Show). Though you could say Nanjiani is part of a cast, I think it's unlikely that he'll be starring in other episodes with his "co-stars" but will be the center of his own episode—Nanjiani's being written by Key and Peele writer Alex Rubens.

Just in case you're curious, Silicon Valley's delay was due to showrunner Alex Berg deciding that he wanted to focus on his other show Barry before he could get back on SV. At best, we could be looking at a release of Silicon Valley 6 in 2020.

I'll admit, though the Twilight Zone is known for its very surreal stories, having Peele executive produce makes it feel like the show is going to be leaning toward some kind of comedic reimagining; not to mention all the actors who've been cast have been known for their work in comedy.

Then again, Get Out was such a serious horror/thriller that it's possible that Peele could be fully embracing that with this show; but even that film still had its comedic moments (e.g., "I'm T.S. mother*ckin' A.")

The Twilight Zone reboot is set to come out sometime in 2019.
