All eyes are on the strong Winter 24 anime roster, but that doesn’t mean new show announcements are stopping. Earlier today, Kadokawa revealed the Shumatsu Train Doko e Iku? anime’s release date in a new trailer.
The anime’s latest trailer not only reveals its premiere though, as it also previews the opening theme. Plus, it puts the spotlight on the four main cast members.
This new show is being produced by EMT Squared, though it’s quite different from the studio’s typical works, most of which are adaptations.
Drugstore in Another World Studio’s Next Project Is an Original Anime
EMT Squared is an anime studio founded in 2013. Compared to other studios, EMT Squared is still fairly young, though the studio already has lots of popular shows under its belt.
Among these are titles like Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, Drugstore in Another World, and Beast Tamer. Most of the studio’s works are based on popular manga or light novels.
For its next project though, the studio is trying its hand at an original anime titled Shumatsu Train Doko e Iku? (Where Does the Doomsday Train Go? in English).
This upcoming anime was announced back in October 2022. Since its reveal, the anime has gotten some trailers along with a main cast announcement.
Its four main VAs include:
- Azumi Waki (Nagisa Minase in Girlfriend, Girlfriend) as Nadeshiko Hoshi
- Erisa Kuon (Raika in Onimai: I'm Now Your Sister!) as Reimi Kuga
- Hina Kino (Miri Unasaka in Buddy Daddies) as Akira Shinonome
- Chika Anzai (Chisato Nishikigi in Lycoris Recoil) as Shizuru Chikura

Shumatsu Train Doko e Iku? Trailer Reveals April Release Date
It may have taken over a year, but finally, this intriguing new original anime is set to premiere in the Spring 24 season.
The show’s release month was revealed in a new trailer that not only showed footage but also previewed the theme song GA-TAN GO-TON by Rei Nakashima (of Sugar Apple Fairy Tale fame).

Even though the show’s art style and characters look cute, the fact that the title mentions a doomsday train means there may be something amiss here.
Of course, we’ll have to wait until Shumatsu Train Doko e Iku? premieres in April 2024 to find out.
As its release is still a season away, there’s no word yet on a streaming platform partner for this series outside of Japan.
