Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is a movie Marvel Studios is banking a lot on since they not only want new characters to build around but also penetrate the Chinese market. That country loves watching movies, apparently, so we don't completely blame Marvel Studios as it's just human nature to do that. Some character details for characters like The Mandarin have been revealed, which might be polarizing for fans.
According to the FandomWire, Akwafina will play a character named Fah Lo Suee, who was Shang-Chi's sister in the comics but might end up being his love interest in the movie. That is weird and will likely make a lot of fans roll their eyes since they are changing a long-standing relationship to give Shang-Chi a love interest.
Meanwhile, it's also stated that The Mandarin is going to run an orphanage that Shang-Chi was raised in. That's very Final Fantasy VIII but we're hopeful that Marvel Studios does something creative with this, though we're not sure if that premise is a good thing. All we can do is hope that more revealed about the movie and those details end up being less cringe-inducing.
