Serena Williams Signs UP For DC Membership And Goes Viral

It looks like DC now has Serena Williams on its side. The elite tennis player just recently signed up for an account on DC's streaming service, DC Universe, and social media is going crazy.

DC fans were pretty surprised to learn about how much Williams actually enjoys watching DC films and television series because the athlete decided to head to Twitter on Tuesday to share a screenshot of her DC Universe singn-up confirmation.

"About last night," Williams wrote on her post.

Since then the internet has been going wild. The tweet got a lot of attention from DC Comics, DC Universe, and Doom Patrol's twitter accounts, all of which welcomed one of the world's most talented and popular athletes with open arms.

DC fans were happy to see Williams join DC Universe, responding to the athlete's tweet with all sorts of GIFs and memes. Some even tried giving her their DC entertainment recommendations, noting that she already becaome "one of us."

The response to William's post might seem too much to some, but to be fair, this is the first time that the athlete has publicly expressed interest in the DC Universe. It isn't her first time showing appreciation for comic book entertainment though – back in February she posted (and then deleted) an Instagram video of Captain America star Chris Evans standing several feet away from her.

Some Marvel fans took the post as a potential spoiler, because in the video Williams could be heard telling the person that she was with that she "was devastated that he died in that movie, Avengers," a statement which many assumed to be in reference to Avengers: Endgame.

DC's next movie, Shazam!, is scheduled to premiere on April 8, 2019.
