Aside from voice acting roles, Japanese anime VAs are also all-around entertainers and talents. Many VAs host seiyuu radio shows which are often held to promote new and upcoming anime.

Seiyuu Radio no Uraomote’s story is about two voice actresses who are the hosts of a radio program.

Starring as the two main characters are popular VAs Miku Ito and Moe Toyota as Yasumi Utatane and Yuhi Yugire, respectively.

Ito is a seiyuu who is best known for voicing Miku Nakano in The Quintessential Quintuplets. Her other notable roles include Kokoro Tsurumaki in BanG Dream! and Neko Kamimoku in Akebi’s Sailor Uniform.

She is joined by Toyota, another popular VA whose major voice roles include Sapphire Kawashima in Sound! Euphonium, Kanon Matsubara in BanG Dream!, and Hibiki in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.

What’s interesting about their casting is that Ito and Toyota also host a seiyuu radio show for Pyxis Radio.

In real life, Ito and Toyota are good friends, but that is not the case in Seiyuu Radio no Uraomote. This series follows two high school voice actresses Yasumi and Yuhi.

After all, Yasumi is a gyaru while Yuhi is a quiet high schooler. When they aren’t on air, though, Yasumi and Yuhi absolutely cannot stand each other.

This comedic take on seiyuu radio shows promises to be an interesting watch, especially for those who are regular consumers of seiyuu content.

For now, fans will have to wait as studio Connect (of Slow Loop and Ayakashi Triangle fame) is still working on the series.

As revealed in the trailer, Seiyuu Radio no Uraomote will be released sometime in 2024. For now, there’s no word yet on a specific release date.
