It's only been a few days since the MCU's Secret Invasion series came out, but we can't help but be suspicious of the characters in the show. After all, the Skrulls are a highly civilized alien specie.
After seeing several of these aliens in Captain Marvel, we've come to know that they could be infiltrating humanity; even our favorite characters from the MCU.
So this leads us to ask this pressing question for Secret Invasion: which characters are really Skrulls in disguise? Here are some of the characters we suspect might actually be Skrulls:
President Ritson
Let's start off our list with none other than the most powerful man in the world: the current President of the United States (in the MCU), President Ritson (played by Dermot Mulroney).
With his position, we can't help but speculate that the Skrulls will go after President Ritson first. By infiltratating his human identity, President Ritson can assign other Skrulls to high positions in government without people questioning his decisions.
It's also worth nothing that President Ritson came out of nowhere after the Blip. This would have been the perfect opportunity for the Skrulls to put one of their own as the strongest figure in the world.
James "Rhodey" Rhodes
One of the characters we've seen in Secret Invasion is James "Rhodey" Rhodes (played by Don Cheadle). In the show, Rhodey is working closely with President Ritson. He has even landed a more official duty compared to the other TV shows and movies he appeared in.
It is for this reason we can't help but be skeptical about his appointments, especially if they were made by President Ritson.
Apart from Rhodey being a high-ranking government official, he is an Avenger. These would make him a good candidate for the Skrulls to infiltrate.
Sonya Falsworth
Another Secret Invasion character we can't help but suspect is secretly a Skrull is MI6 Agent, Sonya Falsworth (played by Olivia Colman). Sonya has been an old friend of Nick Fury's (played by Samuel L. Jackson). But there is an obvious tension between the two.
It's important to note that Skrulls can copy every single DNA of its target. But his long-term memories are something they have no control over.
Knowing this, Sonya keeps referring to the old Fury for numerous times; which could suggest that either she or Fury could be a Skrull.
But it also looks like Sonya is working against the alien civilization, which means that she might be a credible person. We can't really know for sure right now so we'll have to wait for further developments.
Nick Fury
We can't help but suspect that the former SHIELD director has actually been infiltrated by a friendly Skrull before the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home. This would have allowed Fury to work on the SABER Space Station.
But as we see in the ending of Secret Invasion episode 1, Gravik impersonated Fury so he could kill Maria Hill (played by Cobie Smulders). So this could mean that Fury isn't a villain in the show.
The UK Prime Minister
Aside from the US President, the Skulls could likely be targeting to infiltrate other world leaders. So it's highly possible that they have already taken over the British Prime Minister.
From the set photos, we see newspaper clippings of President Ritson meeting with the British Prime Minister alongside Rhodey. Since the two are also suspected to be Skrulls, it only makes sense why the three would be "meeting" over emergency talks.
This could be part of the Skrull rebellion's plan to dominate the world.
Who Else Could Be a Skrull?
So far, we don't know yet if the above-mentioned characters are actually Skrulls. The only one who has been outed as a Skrull is Everett K. Ross (played by Martin Freeman).
