Secret Invasion: Cobie Smulders Set to Return as Maria Hill

One of the upcoming MCU shows that are in the works is Secret Invasion, which will focus on Nick Fury and Talos as they navigate the Skrulls who have infiltrated all aspects of life on Earth. Just like most MCU projects, the exact plot details are still under wraps, but it is inspired by the popular Marvel Comics storyline of the same name. Now, it looks like another beloved MCU character is going to be part of the series.

Deadline has reported that Cobie Smulders is joining Secret Invasion reprising the role of Maria Hill. She is going to reunite with Samuel L. Jackson, who plays Nick Fury, with who she co-starred in all MCU films that she appeared in so far. They were last seen together in Spider-Man: Far from Home in which it was revealed during the post-credits scene that their respective characters were just impersonated by Skrulls Talos and Soren throughout the entire time of the film.

Given that Nick Fury is the leading character of the series, it's not surprising that Maria Hill will also be part of it since she has been a confidant and partner of Fury ever since The Avengers. It is safe to assume that we will be getting the real Maria Hill this time around unless they'll reveal a plot twist in which she's actually a Skrull all this time. We should find out more details soon.

Besides Jackson and Smulders, Secret Invasion also co-stars Ben Mendelsohn (as Talos), Kingsley Ben-Adir (reportedly as the lead villain), Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, Carmen Ejogo, Christopher McDonald, and Killian Scott. It will be consist of six episodes. Kyle Bradstreet serves as the head writer while Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim will be directing the series. Filming is currently underway in London and is also expected to take place across Europe.
