Secret Invasion First Look During Disney+ Day

Marvel Studios officially released the first look at Secret Invasion. The series was first announced last year during Disney’s Investors Day, with Ben Mendelsohn and Samuel L. Jackson reprising their MCU characters as Talos and Nick Fury. Earlier reports had Jackson starring in his own show on Disney+ but the announcement of Secret Invasion confirmed that the actor will be taking part in an ensemble project continuing the MCU’s Skrull threads that made its debut in Captain Marvel.

During Disney+ Day, Marvel announced a lot of shows and released first looks at the future of the MCU, including Secret Invasion with Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, and a mysterious photo of a Skrull who could be Queen Veranke, as well as a new logo for the series. The Secret Invasion series will loosely adapt the comic book event of the same name which featured the revelation that a lot of Skrulls has infiltrated Earth, along with replacing some Marvel heroes. Here are the first look at Secret Invasion:

During the post-credits scenes of both WandaVision and Spider-Man: Far From Home, a lot of insight has been provided leading to Secret Invasion. Fans were led to believe that Maria Hill and Nick Fury recruited Spider-Man to help fight the environmental monsters in Far From Home. However, it was revealed in the post-credits scene that the duo was secretly the Skrulls Soren and Talos. In the post-credits scene of WandaVision, it shows Monica Rambeau being recruited by a Skrull for an unknown mission up in the stars.

Other stars joining Secret Invasion include Kingsley Ben-Adir, Olivia Colman, Carmen Ejogo, Killian Scott, Christopher McDonald, Emilia Clarke. A producer on the Disney+ series, Jonathan Schwartz, discussed how the series will be different from the comic event that it was inspired from. "Like all of [Marvel's] adaptations, it's definitely not a 1:1 adaptation of the comic books, although it takes a lot of that kind of paranoid spirit, and runs with it.” He also said, “I think that's literally everything I can say about it. We're going to leave the secret in Secret Invasion for now."

Secret Invasion is set to be released in 2022.
