Scarlett Johansson made her final hurrah as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in the MCU in her 2021 solo film Black Widow. This comes as the character already died in Avengers: Endgame and her long tenure in the role since she was one of the original Avengers.
Fortunately, the actress' tenure in the franchise is not yet done, as it was revealed some time ago that she is currently attached to produce a mysterious MCU project for Marvel Studios.
So far, the details regarding the project remain under wraps as it is still unknown whether it has a connection to Black Widow and its characters or if it revolves around an entirely different character instead.
Scarlett Johnsson Confirms Her Top Secret MCU Project Remains In the Works
Speaking with ComicBook.com recently, Johansson was asked about the latest update on her top-secret MCU project where she revealed that it is fortunately still in the works and they are waiting for the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike to finish before they can resume.
"It is still happening. Yes. It is still happening, [but] not currently because nothing is happening right now. We're all sort of in this holding pattern as we wait out the writers' strike and potentially our own guild strike, and so on and so forth," she said.
In case you don't know, writers are currently not allowed to do any work during the strike, including any work on scripts.
Still, it's exciting to hear that Johansson's top-secret project is still in the works, even if the details are under wraps.
Nevertheless, this is exciting news to hear, and it'll be interesting to see what kind of project she is working on - though we may be left waiting a while until we learn more - as the writers' strike slows down work on another blockbuster.
