For the longest time, the idea of Charlie Cox playing Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe seemed like a huge pipe dream but after the character's rights reverted back to Marvel, Disney quickly capitalized on the opportunity and brought the fan-favorite to the billion-dollar franchise.

After making cameo appearances in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Cox is finally set to headline his own MCU series, Daredevil: Born Again which is currently in production.

However, the ongoing WGA strike has apparently affected the project's filming on more than one occasion and as it stands, things aren't looking all that promising.

According to a new report from Deadline, Daredevil: Born Again's production has been shut down today, June 12. The outlet reports that the highly anticipated project was supposed to shoot at its New York home base of Silvercup East, which has been a main picketing location for striking WGA members.

Turns out, this isn't the first time the project's production was affected by the ongoing strike. On May 8, filming for Daredevil: Born Again was reportedly halted by sunrise picketing outside of Silvercup East when members of the Teamster Local 817 and IATSE Locals 829 and 52 refused to cross the line.

The incident left the studio without a choice but to suspend filming for the entire week. The trade also added that the 18-episode series is already three months into an eight-month shoot.

As it stands, we still have no idea when production will actually resume but one thing's for certain, the WGA strike will continue to have a major impact on ongoing productions.

While we're still not sure if the series will be a direct sequel to Netflix's Daredevil series, there's a good chance the events of that show will be acknowledged in the MCU, especially with rumors suggesting that Marvel Studios is adamant about casting more actors who appeared in the "Defenders" universe.

Daredevil: Born Again is expected to drop on Disney+ sometime in 2024.
