After the film’s release back in August 2023, Akira Toriyama’s Sand Land is also getting an anime series. Now, the Sand Land TV series confirmed its official release date and shared details about its story.
Details about the show were shared on its official website. There, a breakdown of the show’s arcs and episodes is listed.
Even though this anime series looks almost exactly like the movie, it won’t just be a series version of the film’s events.
Sand Land New ‘Forest Land’ Setting Confirmed
Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama has lots of other works, including the Sand Land manga. This series got a resurgence in popularity recently after an anime film by Sunrise, Kamikaze Douga, and Anima was released.
The film isn’t the only project to look forward to though as Sand Land: The Series was announced back in November 2023.
This series will feature parts from the film, as well as new scenes from the original manga. More excitingly, it will have a new story written by Toriyama.
Titled the Angelic Heroes arc, this new story will be set in the new Forest Land setting. This is a brand-new location for the series and will be the main setting for episodes 7-13.
Meet the Sand Land Voice Cast
Voice actors from the anime film are returning for the series, and they are joined by new cast members.
The confirmed VAs for the series include:
- Mutsumi Tamura (Kobayashi in Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid) as Beelzebub
- Kazuhiro Yamaji (Kenny Ackermann in Attack on Titan) as Rao
- Cho (Brook in One Piece) as Thief
- Satoshi Tsuruoka (Caster in Fate/Zero) as General Are
- Nobuo Tobita (Zetsu in Naruto) as General Zau
- Mikako Komatsu (Maki Zenin in Jujutsu Kaisen) as Anne
- Ayumu Murase (Shoyo Hinata in Haikyuu) as Muniel

Sand Land TV Series Release Date Announced
As the series’ first half will essentially be a TV cut of the anime film, the first seven Sand Land: The Series episodes will be released on March 20, 2024.
Of the seven episodes, the first six will feature the storyline of the anime film, meaning the seventh episode is the only one that’s entirely new.
After this, episodes 8-13 will be released every Wednesday, with Episode 8 set to be available on March 27, 2024.
Where to Watch Sand Land: The Series
Fans of Toriyama’s work in the US will be able to watch the Sand Land anime series on Hulu beginning on March 20.
Meanwhile, fans outside the US can watch the series on the 20th as well through Star on Disney+.
