Naoko Takeuchi is trending on X (formerly Twitter), and for good reason. That’s because the Sailor Moon creator teamed up with Jennie from Blackpink for the artist’s new song.

Specifically, Takeuchi was tapped to create an illustration for Jennie’s new song titled You & Me.

This combo is a perfect storm as Takeuchi’s Sailor Moon is one of the most iconic magical girl anime of all time. Meanwhile, Blackpink is easily one of the biggest girl groups in the world.

Naoko Takeuchi is an icon of the manga and anime industry. After all, she is the creator of Sailor Moon, arguably the most well-known magical girl series of all time.

From the original manga series that was serialized in the 90s, Sailor Moon has quickly become a massive media franchise that’s popular both in Japan and internationally.

Thanks to its popularity, the series has gotten multiple anime projects, including the Sailor Moon Crystal series and movies. Takeuchi also collaborated with Jimmy Choo for an exclusive collab earlier this year.

Takeuchi’s latest collab is with Jennie from South Korean K-pop sensation Blackpink. Recently, Jennie’s new single got a performance video online, which you can watch here:

This song is technically a new release, though it’s one that many dedicated Blackpink fans are already familiar with.

After all, Jennie has performed this song live on Blackpink’s tour, and fan-recorded versions of it are available online.

Takeuchi’s collaboration isn’t apparent from the dance video. This is because her work for the new song can be seen in the cover art.
