Rumor: Deathstroke Will Be the Villain of Suicide Squad 2

No one knows what's going on with Suicide Squad 2 or what it's going to be about but there is some optimism surrounding the project since Warner Bros. hired David O'Connor to direct the sequel. The film also has Gotham actor Todd Stashwick co-writing the script, which is an interesting choice since Stashwick has no big writing credits yet.

Well if this rumor is true, fans might have a new reason to get excited about the movie. According to a fan on Reddit, Deathstroke actor Joe Manganiello supposedly confirmed that he will be the villain of the Suicide Squad sequel.

According to the fan, Manganiello stated the news during Oz Comic-Con. Granted, the actor has yet to publicly confirm the news, so fans should take this news with a grain of salt.

Deathstroke has had a few encounters with the group in the comics. He was briefly a member of the group when the series was re-branded as New Suicide Squad for the New 52/DC You. In his solo series before Rebirth, Deathstroke also had a close encounter with Harley Quinn.

Seeing the DC Universe's best mercenary take on this group of villains could make for a fun encounter. Plus, the character's involvement could mean a more grounded setting for the group, which would be more fitting.

No release date for Suicide Squad 2 has been revealed.
