Gotham Actor is Co-Writing Suicide Squad 2

While it did make a lot of money, the first Suicide Squad film was critically panned, though it did garner a fanbase somehow. A sequel to the film has been discussed numerous times, but there hasn't been any official news regarding when it will come out or what it will be about. There is one odd detail we now know; a Gotham actor is co-writing the film.

Todd Stashwick, who many know as The Mask in Gotham, recently revealed that he will be one of the co-writers for Suicide Squad 2 on DC Movie News. It's a fairly interesting decision on the part of DC since Stashwick doesn't have a lot of credited writing roles, though he has been actively writing.

Stashwick revealed that he got the job after working with David O'Connor in Jane Got a Gun. Apparently, O'Connor picked his brain during a conversation, before eventually giving the Gotham actor the writing gig.

"We sat down, he started picking my brain, and he could see that this is something that I have a deep passion for and I understand genre. That's kind of what I like to write in. And then once we started bouncing ideas back, there's a third writer, David Bar Katz, the three of us are writing it together. And so once we started talking and just bouncing ideas back and forth, he was like ‘This is the team. This is who I want for this.'"

It's too early to tell if Suicide Squad 2 will be better than its predecessor since we know next to nothing about the sequel. Frankly, it won't take much effort to be better than the first movie, so expectations aren't exactly high for this one.
