Robert Pattinson’s The Batman Leads Super Film Nominations Ahead of MCU Films


Matt Reeves’ The Batman previously received three Oscar nominations, and while Robert Pattinson’s Batman saga is continuing on in its own franchise, the 3rd Annual Critics Choice Super Awards has Reeves’ 2022 The Batman in the lead (via Comicbook.com)!

The Batman leads this year’s film nominees with six nominations, including Best Superhero Movie, along with the acting category, Best Actor in a Superhero Movie for Robert Pattinson, Paul Dano and Colin Farrell, while Zoë Kravitz is up for Best Actress. Dano, on the other hand, was also nominated for Best Villain!

The Batman is competing with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and even Thor: Love and Thunder in the Best Superhero Movie category. As for Best Actor in a Superhero Movie, Pattinson is up against Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange 2) and Tenoch Huerta (Black Panther 2).

Meanwhile, Kravitz is nominated Best Actress in a Superhero Movie alongside Angela Bassett (Black Panther 2), Elizabeth Olsen (Doctor Strange 2), Natalie Portman (Thor: Love and Thunder), and Letitia Wright (Black Panther 2), with Dano competing for Best Villain in a Movie with Tenoch Huerta and Elizabeth Olsen.

The specialty of the annual Critics Choice Super Awards lies in honoring popular genres in television and movies, which includes superhero, scifi/fantasy, horror and action categories. While The Batman nominees are up against big names from Marvel Studios, the winners for each category will be announced on March 16th this year.

Upon new DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran unveiling their new DC slate, Chapter One titled Gods and Monsters, Matt Reeves confirmed The Batman Part II’s release date, where Robert Pattinson is reprising his role as the Caped Crusader.

To reiterate, this is a different Batman from James Gunn’s new Batman and Robin movie titled The Brave and The Bold, which will be based on Grant Morrison’s run of the Batman.

The Batman Part II is currently slated for its theatrical release in theaters on October 3, 2025. Meanwhile, Michael Keaton's Batman returns in The Flash which is premieres on June 16.
