Robert Pattinson's Batman Reportedly Included In James Gunn's DCU Plans

The DC Studios have been in the headlines lately for being the subjects of rumors concerning the future of their films, TV shows, and games in their universe. But a recent report might spark interest among fans as Robert Pattinson’s Batman is allegedly being considered to join the larger DC Universe alliance under the reign of James Gunn and Peter Safran.

According to Variety’s report, “A well-placed source says Gunn and Safran are exploring the possibility of incorporating filmmaker Matt Reeves’ iteration of Batman with actor Robert Pattinson into their wider universe.”

As the co-CEOs narrow and align their ideas to the aforementioned, nothing is certain yet given that there are four more films to consider, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, Blue Beetle and Aquaman, and the Lost Kingdom will be released by Warner Bros. Pictures in 2023.

However, Pattinson’s version of the DC Comics hero, who made his debut in March with The Batman, might have a place in the bigger cinematic universe, as director Matt Reeves is expanding the narrative with a sequel in development and multiple villain spin-offs underway, including The Penguin.

Given this assumption, Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton's iterations of the DC vigilante are in jeopardy. Affleck, who has played the Dark Knight since Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, recently expressed his interest in stepping down for the role, claiming that The Flash film would be his final performance as Batman in the DCU.

On the other hand, Keaton is reportedly next in line to succeed Affleck's version after the events of The Flash movie, but those were scrapped upon Gunn and Safran's takeover. And now with Pattinson’s entrance rumors, the future has become dimmer for both actors.
