Robert Pattinson Expresses Interest in Death in The Family Storyline For The Batman Sequel

The Batman is set to debut the new reboot of the Bat vigilante once again on the big screens. Superhero films are always considered to have a sequel or a trilogy story and Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson seem to be throwing a lot of ideas for the new Batman franchise. One particular storyline that interests the two is Death in The Family.

Batman is widely known for having a superhero protégé, Robin, and one particular franchise was Adam West's Batman had explored this concept on-screen. Even Christian Bale's The Dark Knight Rises teased a potential Robin sequel with Joseph Gordon-Levitt's cop character.

When The Batman star Robert Pattinson was asked by Collider if he is open to a future Batman-Robin storyline, "Yeah, but he has to be 13," the actor added, "That's the only way I'll accept it. No, I love Death in the Family and stuff, but I think it'd be so cool. Also, people are so scared of it, but it's kind of exciting. I think it would be a really fun addition."

The actor then explained how the pressure of doing The Batman had affected him. Saying that everyone has their own version of Batman in their heads. Pattinson explained,

"Yeah, there's no way. We won't do that. No, I'm kidding. Yeah, totally, I agree with that. The thing about doing a Batman movie is it's scary to do a Batman movie. Because, first of all, there've been great ones, and also every single one of you has a vision of Batman in your head. And so we're competing with the vision that... I mean, one of the things I was doing when I was writing, I was walking down the street one day, and I suddenly noticed, I was like, "Oh my God, Batman sweatshirt. Oh my God, Batman cap." You literally, if you just notice it, I mean I was talking to some round tables today, people have their Batman shirts on."

It would be really interesting to feature a Robin sidekick for the new Batman reboot. If Matt Reeves proceeded with a trilogy, there will be a lot of potential stories like Death in The Family from the DC Comics that are waiting to be explored.

The Batman will premiere in theaters, on March 4, 2022.
