Robert Kirkman's Invincible Getting Adult Animated Series From Amazon

While most people know Robert Kirkman for The Walking Dead, comic book fans have also enjoyed his other Image series Invincible. Recently concluding after 144 issues, there's little doubt that the series has left its mark on the fandom. It looks like we will be getting more of the series soon, as Amazon has ordered an adult animated series based on the comic.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Invincible will be getting eight hour-long episodes based on the comic book. This will be a part of Kirkman's new media deal with Amazon, after a year when the announcement was first made of the comic creator announcing the switch from AMC to Amazon.

It's also worth noting that Universal Pictures is planning to adapt the comic book into a live-action movie, so that puts the property in an interesting position. Then again, if properties like The Avengers, Batman, and Spider-Man can get several films and an animated series, so can Invincible.

The comic stars Mark Grayson as the titular character, who gains superpowers after his 17th birthday. He is also the son of Omni-Man, the world's greatest superhero. Soon enough, he meets new superheroes, gets a girlfriend, and goes to several alien planets whilst also learning how to grow up.

No release date for the Invincible animated series has been revealed.
