Ridley Scott Reportedly Involved In Two Live-Action Alien Series

The Alien franchise has been pretty quiet ever since the release of Alien: Covenant in 2017. While the science fiction horror film produced and directed by Ridley Scott was praised by critics for its aesthetic and its design, many criticized the film's plot and the movie did rather poorly at the box office. Now, two years after the film's release, a new report claims that 20th Century Fox is developing two different live-action TV series for Alien.

According to HN Entertainment, there are two Alien series currently in development. One of the publication's sources allegedly confirmed that one Alien series is being developed for Hulu with Ridley Scott riding along as the projects executive producer. Meanwhile, the second show is being developed for TNT. Reportedly titled "Raised by Wolves," the second series focuses on the androids behind the aliens instead of the aliens themselves.

While fans ought to be reminded to take this report with a grain of salt, if HN Entertainment's post is proven to be true, then it sure is an exciting time for the Alien fanbase.

The franchise has had a bit of trouble with its past few entries. While Ridley Scott's Prometheus received critical acclaim, the Alien prequel was marketed as a precursor to Alien. However, while fans expected gut-slashing Alien-filled goodness, Prometheus focused on the horrors of artificial intelligence instead of putting the spotlight on the xenomorph. This lead to a poor box office performance for Prometheus. It didn't help that Covenant was a commercial flop as well.

Hopefully these two new series reinvigorates the franchise – if they're actual series, that is.
