Michonne (played by Danai Gurira) and Daryl Dixon (played by Norman Reedus) got the same X scar on their lower backs while looking for Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln).

For a while, the X-scar got fans making theories behind it. Some fans believed it could have been a tribute they did for Rick, who has a wound on the same spot.

There is also another fan theory that believes "something horrible" happened to Michonne and Daryl, which led them to brutally kill them. The scars were also placed in a "weird place" so the fan thought they were done by someone else.

There was also a theory that they became kidney donors.

As revealed in The Walking Dead season 9 episode 14, entitled Scars, the answer is far too dark and disturbing.

In the episode, it was revealed that Jocelyn (played by Rutina Wesley) kidnapped Judith (played by Cailey Fleming) after gaining Michonne's trust. When Michonne and Daryl attempt to rescue her, Jocelyn's adopted kids attack them.

The kids then tortured Daryl and Michonne by branding them with the X scar. When they were able to escape, they had no choice but to kill the kids.

It was an exceptionally painful moment for Michonne, who was very pregnant with Rick's child at the time.
