Rick and Morty’s seventh season has just ended, but fans can look forward to more. Instead of a new season though, Adult Swim shared a sneak peek at Rick and Morty: The Anime via a clip uploaded on its official YouTube channel.

Previously, this popular animated series got a couple of pilot episodes from several anime studios. Soon, a proper anime adaptation with 10 episodes will be released, and it is being produced by a notable anime studio.

Rick and Morty is one of the most popular shows on Adult Swim thanks to its inventive stories and incredibly crude humor.

Since the show’s first season aired in 2013, Rick and Morty has become a full-fledged media franchise with various spinoff projects. These include comics, product collaborations, and even a couple of anime episodes.

From 2020 to 2021, the series tapped several Japanese studios to work on special Rick and Morty anime pilots. These studios include Studio Deen, Sola Entertainment, and Telecom Animation Film.

Thanks to the success of these pilots, a proper anime series was ordered, and it will be produced mainly by Telecom Animation Film, the studio that is also working on the Blue Box anime adaptation.

Telecom is no stranger to working on big IPs. After all, the studio has worked on various Lupin III anime, the Shenmue anime adaptation, and Tower of God.

This also isn’t the first time that the anime world and American cartoons have crossed over. For instance, there was an Adventure Time episode directed by Masaaki Yuasa (of Inu-Oh and Devilman Crybaby fame).

Then there’s the upcoming Suicide Squad anime that is being made by Wit Studio.

For now, there’s no word yet on when this new Rick and Morty anime will be released, though it’s confirmed to air on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim block in the US.
