Rian Johnson Claims Spike Lee's Da 5 Bloods is Star Wars Canon

There is little doubt that Spike Lee's new Netflix movie Da 5 Bloods is an amazing film that has been getting rave reviews since its premiere last week. But could it actually be connected to a major franchise? Rian Johnson has just suggested that the war drama is Star Wars canon.

Johnson recently took to his official Twitter account to post a photo of Hanoi Hannah from Da 5 Bloods along with an image of Paige Tico from Star Wars: The Last Jedi. He then added an interesting caption. Check it out below.

"#Dafivebloods is awesome and also canon," Johnson wrote.

Of course, it's just a joke but it also revealed why Hanoi Hannah looked so familiar. The real-life radio personality was portrayed by Veronica Ngo, who also played Rose Tico's doomed sister in The Last Jedi. However, it is important to point out that this is where the similarities end.

Da 5 Bloods stars Delroy Lindo, Jonathan Majors, Clarke Peters, Norm Lewis, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Mélanie Thierry, Paul Walter Hauser, Jasper Pääkkönen, and Jean Reno. Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman also appears as squad leader Norman Earl 'Stormin' Norman' Holloway.

The movie follows a group of aging Vietnam War veterans who return to the country in hopes to find the remains of their fallen commander. However, they also have an ulterior motive as they try to look for the treasure they buried during their service. It is currently streaming on Netflix.
