Pokemon Sword & Shield: The New Galar Region is The Opposite of Detective Pikachu's Ryme City

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu had a standout setting with Ryme City that made fans nostalgic while also making sure that PETA wouldn't overreact to anything. In Ryme City, Pokemon battles are illegal and these creatures help out society in their own way, which made for a truly fascinating location. It seems like Pokemon Sword &Shield has thrown this idea out the window as the brand-new Galar region loves Pokemon battles.

Take that peace and unity!

In all seriousness, Sword & Shield does something really cool by making Pokemon battles feel like a sport. Pokemon Gym battles are done in big soccer-like stadiums where people can watch you take on Gym Leaders. This is also where Dynamax Battles become a part of the entertainment since people will be able to see your giant Pokemon duke it out.

Considering all the backlash Pokemon Let's Go! Pikachu and Eevee got for not having wild Pokemon battles, this was probably done as a response to that. Plus, the new wild areas look like a good time as they will allow players to search for new Pokemon and take part in more epic battles.

It is kind of funny how Galar is the complete opposite of Detective Pikachu's Ryme City. Let's hope that the new region gets referenced in the next Detective Pikachu movie, whatever it's called.

Pokemon Sword & Shield come out on November 15.
