Poe Dameron Earns A Promotion Before Heading Into Star Wars: Episode IX

Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) might have let his ego get the best of him during a majority of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, however, the Resistance's ace pilot eventually learns the value of calm leadership in the movie.

Now, after everything that he's been through, it looks like Poe is going to get a bit of a promotion before heading into Star Wars: Episode IX. Marvel just recently released the final issue of the comic book series Poe Dameron, and in it, fans get to see Lei reinstating Poe as commander of the Resistance.

In Poe Dameron #31, while the Resistance tries to seek out allies, Poe discovers that his Black Squadron finds itself in serious danger. Though General Organa insists that Poe shouldn't try to risk his own life to save the squadron, Poe counters, claiming that he'd never leave anyone behind. The pilot would endanger his life to save his friends, saying that the rescue mission could very well serve as inspiration for what's left of the Resistance.

After a while, Poe manages to convince Leia that the rescue mission is worth the risk, and the General decides to reinstate him as the Resistance's commander.

Knowing how much Poe's learned throughout The Last Jedi, we doubt that Poe is going to go back to being a cocky "flyboy" and waste the opportunity given him in the final issue of Poe Dameron. If anything, we expect the pilot to get another promotion once Episode IX finally makes its way to the big screen.

Poe Dameron # 31 is currently available for purchase on bookshelves. Meanwhile, Star Wars: Episode IX is set for release December 20, 2019.
