Percy Jackson Author Confirms Minotaur's Return for Disney+ Series

The new Percy Jackson series is currently in production and it looks like we're getting a lot of awesome new updates on the highly anticipated Disney+ show. The latest news comes from Rick Riordan himself who has confirmed that the Minotaur is making an appearance in the live-action reboot!

Rick Riordan recently posted on his blog and although the entry is mostly about The Divine Comedy, the Lightning Thief author concluded with a tease on his new series.

"I’m off for another exciting day of production. I think we may be meeting the Minotaur today," Riordan wrote.

This is a great update considering that fans are expecting a proper adaptation of Percy Jackson's first book. In The Lightning Thief, the Minotaur attacks Percy as he is on his way to Camp Half-Blood. It is one of Percy's first major fights and one that would impress the other campers.

In the meantime, it looks like filming will continue at Camp Half-Blood and hopefully, we'll get an official look at the cast in action soon.

Percy Jackson had previously confirmed that Virginia Kull has been cast as Percy's mom Sally Jackson, Glynn Turman as Mr. Brunner, Jason Mantzoukas as Mr. Dionysus, Megan Mullally as Mrs. Dodds, and Timm Sharp as Gabe Ugliano.

The new cast members will be joining Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Leah Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, and Aryan Simhardi as Grover Underwood. Interestingly, Percy's father Poseidon has not yet been cast and people are hoping Disney+ will ultimately tap Logan Lerman.

For now, the Percy Jackson series is still in production and has not yet been given an official release date. However, fans are hoping that the new show will premiere on Disney+ sometime later this year or in early 2023. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
