Paul Rudd and Carrie Coon in New Ghostbusters Afterlife Interview

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is just around the corner, and now that reviews are emerging all over the Internet following a surprising screening in New York, as well as new images and new posters, anticipation for the long-awaited sequel couldn't be higher (so high it might just manifest into supernatural energy!).

Now, in a new interview with ET Canada, two of the film's lead actors, Paul Rudd and Carrie Coon, who play Mr. Grooberson and Callie Spengler, discuss all things Ghostbusters: Afterlife. But don't worry - there are no spoilers in the five-minute video, though we would advise you to avoid the reviews now that the embargo has officially been lifted. Check out the interview below:

When asked what their "first piece of Ghostbusters memorabilia" was, Carrie Coon says that she didn't have any, that her childhood involved being "creative with sticks", although she adds that she's sure she probably ended up making a proton pack with them at some point. Carrie adds that she has always loved ghosts, werewolves and mummies, and the paranormal in general, and says, "Ghostbusters was a huge part of my childhood - I loved it and it was so funny. And, you know, beautiful cast, great women - Annie Potts and Sigourney Weaver, all that stuff."

Paul Rudd says, "I certainly loved the film. Yeah, I don't know if I had any of the stuff, but I loved the movie, and growing up, it was a, you know, it was a huge movie," before adding that he had so many "Oh, no way!" moments while reading the script, which left him feeling like it was the perfect way to make the movie. When discussing the fanbase, he confesses, "I include myself in that category". Seeing Paul Rudd in the new film actually feels like a prayer that's been answered, as the actor was previously 'dreamcast' into a potential upcoming sequel many years ago. The question now is, will he actually be a Ghostbuster?

The interviewer then quizzed the pair on their thoughts on the MiniPufts, referencing the short trailer we got earlier this year, in which Paul Rudd's science teacher Mr. Grooberson encounters dozens of tiny versions of the iconic StayPuft Marshmallow Man wreaking havoc on a shelf in his local Walmart (in the latest trailer, he can also be seen fleeing said-Walmart while a Terror Dog gives chase - so he clearly picks the wrong day to go grocery shopping!). So it sure looks like there are plenty of old-school villains making a comeback!

"They're so cute!" Carrie beams, before Paul elaborates, saying, "They're cute, even when they're, you know, killing each other", and describes them as "sadistic baby marshmallows". "This is a very cool way to kind of do this," he continued, "it's unique and it's unique to our story, and yet it does have this kind of connective tissue". Then Carrie jokes, "They're going to make a great Christmas ornament." And she's not wrong - the MiniPufts have already been released as toys, alongside the four new Ghostbusters, the three original Ghostbusters, and new ghost Muncher who was recently revealed in a new image.

The new movie will focus on the descendants of Egon Spengler, who has died in the years since Ghostbusters II (1989), which reflects the real-life passing of Harold Ramis in 2014. Exchanging New York City for Summerville, Oklahoma, the long-awaited threequel will still have something strange in the neighborhood - just a completely different one. Let's just hope it has the same spirit as the original movies.
