Anime songs are a popular choice for karaoke, though not all of them are easy to sing, even for seasoned anime fans. Recently, a survey of Japanese fans revealed the hardest anime songs to sing in karaoke, and the results are surprising.

The top 10 hardest songs to sing are quite varied, but the interesting result is that the two Oshi no Ko theme songs placed highly in the survey.

Oshi no Ko is arguably one of the most popular shows not only of its season but of the year. After all, the show got loads of attention online, not to mention that its songs became huge trends.

The show’s opening theme, Idol, by YOASOBI continues to be incredibly popular on streaming platforms as well as Japanese karaoke.

However, fans noted in a recent survey by Japanese karaoke brand DAM (via Animate Times) that it’s the hardest anime song to sing.

This isn’t too much of a surprise given the song’s unusual tempo and its fast, almost rap-like parts. It doesn’t help that it has lots of high notes.

The same can be said for the ending theme, Mephisto, by Queen Bee, which placed sixth on the survey. This song also has incredibly high notes that not everyone can hit.

Oshi no Ko may have dominated the top 10 hardest anime songs to sing survey, but the rest of the list has a nice mix of popular songs that are also challenging to perform.

The top 10 are as follows:

  1. Idol - YOASOBI (Oshi no Ko)
  2. GO! GO! MANIAC - Ho-kago Tea Time (K-On!)
  3. Fleeting Lullaby - Ado (One Piece Film: Red)
  4. unravel - TK from Ling Tosite Sigure (Tokyo Ghoul)
  5. mixed nuts - Official Hige Dandism (Spy x Family)
  6. Mephisto - Queen Bee (Oshi no Ko)
  7. takt - Ryo from Supercell feat. Mafumafu and gaku (takt op.Destiny)
  8. The Rumbling - Sim (Attack on Titan The Final Season Part 2)
  9. Synchrogazer - Nana Mizuki (Senki Zesshō Symphogear)
  10. God knows... - Aya Hirano (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya)

Aside from these, the DAM survey also noted some other honorable mentions that are also quite difficult to sing in karaoke.

Among these are songs like Akuma no Ko by Ai Higuchi from Attack on Titan, as well as Never Forget from Bocchi the Rock!

Given these results, it’ll be interesting to see if a future survey gets done that will include Fall 23 anime songs. After all, YOASOBI and Queen Bee will sing new songs for upcoming shows of that season.
