Optimus Prime Shows Up, John Cena Turns Heel in Latest Bumblebee Trailer

Paramount Pictures has released the latest trailer of Bumblebee and it continues to look better than any of the previous Transformers movies, though it doesn't look particularly original. The genre of a kid befriending extraterrestrials isn't anything new but we'll take that over the awful Michael Bay movies. This trailer might just be the most informative one yet, giving us glimpses of the villains, Optimus Prime, and More.

There's actually a lot to like about this new trailer, not only showing more action against the two Decepticons Bumblebee will be facing but also revealing Cybertron and Optimus Prime. Prime actually looks really great in this film, looking more like his 80's self than the overdesigned version from the previous movies.

Bumblebee also has to protect Earth from the Decepticons, though we don't know why he has to do it alone. There's a good chance that the other Transformers characters could join him, but we will probably have to wait for that. Still, it's great seeing more cartoon-accurate versions of these characters, as well as an actual story that doesn't revolve around a shiny MacGuffin that can destroy worlds.

The bond between Bumblebee and Charlie, played by Hailee Steinfeld, is obviously going to be the heart of this film and it could actually work. While some people liked how Bumblebee was able to befriend Shia Labeouf's character in the first Transformers movie, there's a good chance that this will be handled much better.

It also looks like John Cena has been given an attitude adjustment since he wants to take down Bumblebee. Now that's a WrestleMania-worthy match right there.

On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.

Bumblebee hits theaters this December.
