One Piece: Luffy Makes Surprise Appearance in Latest Thor: Love and Thunder Featurette

It seems like One Piece is everywhere right now with numerous content including the manga, anime, feature film, and video game being released in the next few months. However, it looks like the franchise just got an unexpected Marvel Cinematic Universe crossover. Lead Straw Hat Monkey D. Luffy just made a surprise appearance in the latest behind-the-scenes featurette for Thor: Love and Thunder!

The new featurette is titled When Love Meets Thunder and it offers a behind-the-scenes look at how the fourth Thor movie was filmed. One of the first things we see in the video is director Taika Waititi stating that they are now on Day 62 of filming and that he needs to go lift Chris Hemsworth's spirits because the actor is feeling low.

Interestingly, fans immediately noticed the shirt that Taika Waititi is wearing, which has a print that had been blurred out. Although it isn't clear to more people, One Piece fans were quick to note that it is a print of Luffy's face along with the word "Wanted."

It's great to know that Waititi has excellent taste in manga and anime and that he isn't too shy to show off his love for One Piece. It also comes at a perfect time considering that the franchise is celebrating its 25th anniversary in the next new months. Needless to say, Thor: Love and Thunder and the new One Piece content will keep us entertained for the next few weeks.

Thor: Love and Thunder will hit theaters on July 8, 2022. Luffy will also appear in the new movie One Piece Film: Red which is set to premiere in Japan on August 6, 2022. Although the animated film has not yet been given an international release date, an announcement could be made soon so stay tuned for more updates on this story.
