Netflix’s One Piece may not have started production yet, but preparations for it are underway. Recently, it was confirmed that the One Piece live-action Season 2 writers’ room has finally opened following the end of the WGA strike.

Details of the writers’ room being open were shared in a report by Deadline. This was soon confirmed by a staff member in the second season’s production.

This new report about the show’s next scripts being written might be a bit confusing for some, especially considering previous reports that state otherwise.

In a previous interview with Tomorrow Studios CEO Marty Adelstein, it was mentioned that the scripts for One Piece's second season are ready.

Then, it was said in another interview that Tomorrow Studios is ready for up to Season 6.

This is refuted in the official message by Eiichiro Oda which revealed that the One Piece live-action's second season has been greenlit. That’s because Oda said that the scripts are still in the works.

Now, with the recent report about the show’s writers’ room only opening recently, some may be confused by the conflicting reports.

There’s no clear explanation for now, but, likely, the truth is somewhere in the middle. It’s possible that Adelstein was referring to the Season 2 script drafts instead of the finished scripts.

Even if the drafts are ready, a writers’ room is needed to polish the script to get it ready for filming. So, this might be a likely explanation for the conflicting details.

Most Hollywood productions came to a halt when the Writers Guild of America (WGA) organized a strike as a new deal wasn’t made with the Producers Guild of America (PGA).

It has taken months, but finally, the WGA strike concluded as a deal with the PGA was made which gave concessions regarding the use of AI and streaming residuals, among others.

With the strike over, writers can finally return to work on upcoming movies and shows. Among these is the One Piece live-action series which opened its second season writers’ room.

In case there was any doubt, writer Randy Troy confirmed that the writers’ room is indeed open. He teased that the writing team is cooking up something that fans will enjoy.

The WGA strike may be over, but the Screen Actors Guild strike continues, meaning filming on One Piece and other Hollywood projects is still on hold.
