With Netflix’s One Piece confirmed to get a second season, fans are wondering what Chopper would look like in live-action. Recently, the One Piece Live-Action head of prosthetics, Jaco Snyman, shared his hopes for Chopper in Season 2.

The interview did not confirm how the production team will handle bringing Chopper to life.

But one thing’s for sure, the Straw Hat Crew’s doctor will debut in the next season, and a lot of care will be put into his live-action form.

Despite the curse that has affected pretty much all anime live-action adaptations, Netflix and Tomorrow Studios’ One Piece beat the odds to become a certified global hit.

Aside from dominating Netfix’s TV show charts after its premiere, the show has also gotten great reviews from critics. In fact, Tomorrow Studios even said that the show exceeded Netflix’s expectations.

Because of this, it’s no surprise that the show was renewed for a second season. This was confirmed in a message to fans from One Piece creator, Eiichiro Oda.

In his message, Oda thanked fans for supporting the show. He also said that it might take some time for Season 2 to be released as it’s still in the early stages.

Oda did at least confirm that a certain doctor will finally appear in the second season. Thus, it’s all but confirmed that the next season will cover the Drum Island arc, where Chopper will make his first appearance.

Chopper is coming in Season 2, but in what form is still a mystery. In a recent interview though, head of prosthetics Jaco Snyman shared his hopes for Chopper’s appearance.

Speaking with Gamespot, Snyman said that he hoped that the show’s staff could give Chopper a similar treatment to Arlong.

Given that Arlong was played by an actor with prosthetics, this means the show’s staff are hoping to pull off Chopper via prosthetics or maybe a puppet instead of CGI.

Of course, this plan is not set in stone yet. After all, Chopper being an actor with prosthetics or a puppet will be tough to achieve. Some fans are instead hoping for CGI so that Chopper is more dynamic.

Whatever the case may be, fans have high hopes for Chopper’s appearance, especially given how well the first season brought Eiichiro Oda’s world to life.

For now, there’s no word yet on when One Piece Live-Action Season 2 will be released.
