After being serialized for over a decade now, it was confirmed that the Noragami manga will conclude soon, and it also now has an official ending date.

It was revealed earlier this year that the manga is now in its final stretch. The recent announcement reaffirmed this, and it will only be a few more months until the series’ long-awaited conclusion.

Given this announcement, fans are still holding out hope that, because the manga is ending, the anime might also get a new season sometime soon.

Noragami is an urban fantasy manga by Adachitoka, a manga artist duo consisting of Adachi and Tokashiki. The manga has been serialized since December 2010 in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine.

While the manga already had a strong following early in its run, the series’ popularity got a major boost when the anime adaptation by studio Bones (of My Hero Academia and Mob Psycho 100 fame) aired.

The anime’s first season was broadcast in the Winter 2014 season. It then got a second season, which aired in Fall 2015. Since then, there has been no new season.

One possible reason for the anime not getting renewed is the lack of source material at the time. After all, the manga has a monthly release schedule, meaning it takes a while before there are enough chapters to adapt.

Still, despite having no third season, the series’ manga source material continues to have a dedicated following.

Back in February, it was revealed that the Noragami manga will end on the 27th volume. Now, it’s confirmed that Noragami will release its last chapter in the February 2024 issue of Monthly Shonen Magazine.

This issue will be released on January 6, 2024, making this day the official ending date for the Noragami manga.

The series ending may be bittersweet for long-time readers, but it’s fair to say that the manga had a good run. After all, aside from being serialized for over a decade, the series has sold millions of copies.

With the ending on the horizon, fans are hoping that the conclusion of the story means that there will be a third season announcement soon.

It’s tough to say if that will be the case, though it’s within the realm of possibility. For instance, shows like The Devil Is a Part-Timer! and Spice and Wolf got new anime projects years after their last seasons.
