It may have taken much longer than expected, but finally, the NieR: Automata anime will finally return next week. To hype up the release of NieR: Automata Ver1.1a, Aniplex shared a new trailer that shows off some of the exciting action fans can expect.

The return of the Nier anime finally marks the end of the months-long wait for it to be finished after it was delayed twice earlier this year.

However, unlike other delayed shows from Winter 2023, this one will not get a rebroadcast. Instead, all four episodes will be broadcast on the same day.

NieR: Automata Ver1.1a is an anime by A-1 Pictures that’s based on the popular Square Enix video game of roughly the same name.

While its story is faithful to the source material, it does add new characters and storylines.

After the first three episodes were released, the anime went into hiatus alongside other shows such as Ayakashi Triangle.

Soon, more anime were delayed, with COVID infections being cited as the cause.

While the show returned in February, only Episodes 4 to 8 were broadcast. Since then, fans had to wait for months with no news.

Finally, it was revealed that NieR: Automata Ver1.1a will return this July with a sequential broadcast of Episodes 9 to 12.

Presumably, this will be the final four episodes of the anime, though there’s no official word yet on whether there will be another cour or season.

What is clear is that Nier is an exception among other delayed shows. After all, anime like The Misfit of Demon King Academy Season 2 got restarts, meaning they were aired on TV again starting from the first episode.

To promote the upcoming broadcast and release of the four next episodes, a new trailer for the series was shared online which features a peek at several action-packed scenes.

Specifically, the trailer shows 2B and 9S facing off against various machines.

The trailer also features Eve, who is presumably going to play a big role in these next episodes. Check out the trailer here:

NieR: Automata Ver1.1a will air in Japan on Tokyo MX, Tochigi Television, Gunma Television, and BS11 on July 23, 2023.

Meanwhile, these four episodes are expected to be available on Crunchyroll in the US and other selected regions following their Japanese TV broadcast.
