New Wonder Woman Creative Team Teases 'Twist' to Character's Classic Stories

Fans were quite happy when it was announced that G. Willow Wilson will be the new writer for DC's Wonder Woman ongoing series, which starts in November's issue #58. She will be joined by Cary Nord, an artist fans of Valiant Comics should be familiar with.

So how will this blockbuster creative team start this series off? With a twist on the character's classic formula apparently.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the creative confirmed that the story starts with Steve Trevor being missing and Diana having to rescue him. From there, things will take a huge turn and will take the series in a new and exciting direction. At least that's what the team is hoping for.

"Well, storywise, we start with a very classic Wonder Woman scenario: Steve Trevor's gone missing, and Wonder Woman wants to go find him. And then we try to hold it upside down by its ankles and see what falls out of its pockets. It starts as a very classic story, and almost immediate there's a twist that I think takes it in a new and exciting direction. I think there's material in there that will be very satisfying to long-term readers of the series, but at the same time, there will be a convenient doorway for new readers to get into the character."

Considering how great her work with Ms. Marvel has been, this should be a fun run and it is getting many people excited to pick up the character again. Kamala Khan and Diana are very different people so this could be interesting.

Wonder Woman had two long runs recently, one by Greg Rucka, which was praised by many, and one by James Robinson, which garnered a mixed reaction. The new creative team of G. Willow Wilson and Cary Nord starts with Wonder Woman #58, which comes out on November 14.
