New Venom Image Gives Us Our Best Look at the Symbiote Anti-Hero

It's kind of amazing how fan opinion on Sony's Venom movie changed after the second trailer was released. The first was dull and barely showed off anything, while the second one was so much better, showing scenes were Tom Hardy was actually using the symbiote to fight off some mooks. Now, we have a second image that shows Hardy in full Venom mode and it continues to look great.

He might not have the spider emblem but this version of Venom does look comic book accurate, even if Spider-Man isn't involved in this story. The inclusion of white veins on the symbiote is also a nice touch and should make up for the lack of a spider symbol on the anti-hero's chest.

Seeing the character smile is creepy as hell and is probably what the filmmakers are going for. This is a hard R rated movie after all and the people behind it have said a horror aesthetic is going to be used to differentiate it from other comic book films. New Mutants will attempt to do this next year as well.

Venom will be hitting theaters this year, on October 5. Here is hoping that the movie lives up to all this hype.
