New Projections For Solo: A Star Wars Story Point To A Better Second Weekend

Solo: A Star Wars Story might have done poorly during its opening weekend, but it looks like there's hope yet for Lucasfilm's latest Star Wars spinoff.

Ron Howard's Han Solo heist film might have disappointed many with a soft $103 million during its 4-day weekend, however analysts predict that the film will do much better during its second week in cinemas.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, second-week projections say that Solo: A Star Wars Story could rake in more than $60 million this weekend, a better hold than what was initially expected of the film. Yesterday, analysts estimates for the film suggested that Solo would only earn around $30-33 million during its second week in cinemas. These new projections seem to indicate quite a jump.

Solo earning $60 million or more during its second weekend would mean that the film would only have a 30% drop from its opening. That means the film would have some momentum as it continues its theatrical run in June.

The Star Wars spinoff has been having a lot of trouble critically and commercially. The only Disney Star Wars movie to earn less than $100 million during its three-day opening weekend ($83 million), Solo will need all the help it can get to reach its breakeven point with a total gross of $500 million. Let's hope that fans will turn around and start heading to cinemas to check out Lucasfilm's latest Star Wars offer.
