New Poster for The LEGO Movie 2 Harkens to Star Wars

A new trailer had just dropped for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, and with it comes a new poster as well. The cool thing about this one is, it kind of harkens to the classic Star Wars poster, what with a beam of light shooting up and the characters all surrounding it.

While we have some returning characters in the poster like Emmett and Lucy, we also have some new faces in the form of Queen Watevra (the horse) and Rex Dangervest. The interesting thing about Dangervest is, he's actually voiced by Chris Pratt, and he seems to be a parody of all his famous roles from Star-Lord to Owen from Jurassic World.

Fingers crossed there's a Parks and Recreation reference somewhere in there.

Going back to the poster, it's ironic that Chris Miller would be sharing a Star Wars-inspired one what with him and his directing partner Phil Lord getting fired from Solo: A Star Wars Story. It was speculated that they were supposed to be on the helm for this film, but they couldn't do the job since they were off doing Solo. With them getting fired, at least they got to come back and put more focus on this film.

"The LEGO® Movie 2: The Second Part," reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all-new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. It's been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild.

The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman, and their friends to far away, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.

Catch The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part in theaters Feb. 8, 2019.
