New Disney+ Trailer from Mulan Showcases New Footage Including the Phoenix

Months after its original release set for last May, Mulan is finally going to come out but on the streaming service, Disney+. The movie lands early September, and Disney has released a new spot teasing some new footage.

While the earlier previews have given us a look at different points in the film, it looks like this spot is going to focus mostly on Mulan fighting the northern army alongside her Imperial forces of China. Just by looking at it, it seems that Mulan has been able to rally several soldiers at her side and not just a select few like in the film.

We also have a glimpse of the Phoenix that has been in the promotional material. While I don't expect the mythical creature to have as much of a presence as the animated version's Mushu, I think it's going to be integral to the story; maybe the reason Mulan supposedly gains "powers" (as per rumors).

While Disney had hoped that theaters would be opened by July, it looks like COVID-19 is not going away anytime soon. If anything, the movie is still going to hit theaters, but only in select locations. For places that are still under lockdown, they'll have to catch the movie on Disney+ for an additional $30.

To save her ailing father from serving in the Imperial Army, a fearless young woman disguises herself as a man to battle northern invaders in China.

Catch Mulan when it hits Disney+ this coming Sept. 4.
