New Detective Pikachu Trailer Gives First Look at Lickitung

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu just released a new trailer and fans are pretty disappointed since it's so short. That's actually a good thing since it manages to pack a lot of fun moments in a neat 30-second video, like Pikachu's coffee addiction and frustrations with Mr. Mime, which has been a running joke since the very first trailer, which is still the longest one thus far.

However, we finally got a look at another Pokemon, this time it's Kanto original Lickitung. Only seen for a split second, the Pokemon is faithfully adapted, with many of us once again in awe at how Legendary was able to make these monsters look great and "realistic."

Lickitung isn't exactly one of the strongest Pokemon around but it is one of the cooler and more unique-looking ones. Back in Red and Blue, the Pokemon could not evolve and could only be caught in the Safari Zone or Mewtwo's cave. The Pokemon Company eventually came up with a new evolution for the Normal-type in Diamond and Pearl.

The story begins when ace private eye Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry's former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City—a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world—they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe.

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu also stars Justice Smith as Tim; Kathryn Newton as Lucy, a junior reporter following her first big story; and Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe as Lt. Yoshida.
