Neil Gaiman Eager To Write Doctor Who Episode For Jodie Whittaker

Whovians are certainly looking forward to the new adventures of the Thirteenth Doctor in Series 11. However, one fan in particular is eager to get involved with the upcoming season of Doctor Who. Neil Gaiman has just admitted that he is hoping to write an episode for Jodie Whittaker.

Gaiman has already proven that he is fully capable of creating a story that would captivate Doctor Who fans. The American Gods author wrote The Doctor's Wife for Series 6 as well as the Series 7 episode Nightmare in Silver. Not surprisingly, Gaiman told Digital Spy that he is hoping to work on the show again in the future.

"If you examine my DNA and you go in deep enough, with a good enough microscope, you're gonna see a TARDIS, with a little light blinking on the top! So the idea of writing for Jodie, or for her successor, whoever she, he, they happen to be, yeah, it's Doctor Who! You can't say no."

The idea of Gaiman working on a new Doctor Who episode is certainly a welcome one. After all, people were expecting the Stardust writer to keep churning out new stories even after the Eleventh Doctor's regeneration. Interestingly, Gaiman admitted that he had something planned out for the Twelfth Doctor but too busy with another important project.

"I was so frustrated over the last four years because I didn't get to write for Peter Capaldi," Gaiman revealed. "I even had a planned episode and did not get to do it, because I've been making Good Omens and that's been my life."

Gaiman is already an established author with novels like Neverwhere, Anansi Boys, and the hilarious collaboration with Terry Pratchett Good Omens. His comic book series The Sandman even made it to the New York Times Best Seller list.

Good Omens is certainly a major project for Gaiman so he can be forgiven for staying away from Doctor Who. Hopefully, his schedule will be less hectic once the series premieres on Amazon Prime next year.

Doctor Who Series 11 airs in October.
