While fans will need to wait a bit longer before the seventh season, My Hero Academia fans are in for a treat as the anime revealed a surprise collaboration with the NBA for a special fashion line.

This new fashion collab will feature a range of apparel by athletic-wear brand HYPERFLY, featuring My Hero Academia designs. These items will be made for nine NBA teams.

While this collab might be a surprise to some, it makes sense given the crossover between NBA and My Hero Academia fans.

Looking back to a decade or two ago, anime wasn’t exactly cool. Though now, that’s not the case, as anime has pretty much become mainstream, even in the world of pro sports.

For instance, NBA star Zion Williamson revealed last year in an interview that he’s a huge anime fan. In particular, he’s a big fan of Naruto, an anime that has inspired his outlook on life.

In that interview, Williamson also mentioned that he believes 80% of NBA players are fans of anime. It’s just that many aren’t vocal about it.

While not a lot of players are vocal about their love of anime, there are several well-known anime fans in the league aside from Williamson.

For instance, Rudy Gobert of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Steven Adams of the Memphis Grizzlies are self-professed fans of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece.
