What Does It Mean to Have Usuba Blood in My Happy Marriage?
Miyo Saimori, as an Usuba, should follow the clan’s strict code of conduct. According to Arata Tsuruki (aka Arata Usuba), they don’t let anyone find them easily.
They are also not allowed to exist publicly, which means coming face-to-face with Kiyoka Kudou is a violation of their code.
The Usubas are also unable to stand on a public stage. They are forbidden from displaying their abilities because it would be perceived as a threat, potentially causing conflict and disorder in the world.
They are so powerful that the clan has imposed a strict code to keep their members at bay. And if they break the code, they will be severely punished.
The Usuba code, as it is enacted, forces its members to live in secrecy, hide their true names, and conceal their existence from the public.
Furthermore, members are only permitted to marry among their relatives in order to preserve the bloodline.
Aside from that, they are unable to make any close friends or lovers. They are not allowed to buy anything expensive without permission, and they are not permitted to consume alcohol outside of the house.
There are many more inconvenient and self-imposed restrictions for the Usubas, but the most important requirement is complete obedience to the emperor.
Without the emperor's protection, the Usuba family and other gift-users would most likely be regarded as heretics rather than heroes who defended the country.
But there's more to the emperor's desire to strangle the Usubas. The emperor is said to be afraid of the Usubas because of their Dream Sight.
The Dream Sight is a singular and omnipotent ability far superior to the emperor's Divine Revelation gift.
Who Are the Members of the Usuba Family?
In the past, the Usuba family had a lot of members. But after its decline, there are only four known members in the series, and they are as follows:
- Sumi Saimori-Usuba is the mother of Miyo Saimori and the daughter of Yoshirou Usuba. She has the power of telepathy. She died at such a young age due to natural causes, and her death was unrecorded.
- Yoshirou Usuba’s gift is not known in public. We know that he’s the father of Sumi, who wants her daughter to marry another member of the Usuba clan. He objected a lot to Sumi’s decision to marry Shinichi of the Saimori household out of fear that the Usuba gift would be exploited.
- Arata Usuba has the gift of controlling illusions. He is the cousin of Miyo, and he wanted to be her groom instead of Kiyoka Kudou, as expected of his duty as an Usuba. He vows to protect and support Miyo at all costs, even if it means sacrificing his life.
- Miyo Saimori-Usuba has an omnipotent ability called Dream Sight. She is the fiancé of Kiyoka Kudou and the abused daughter of the Saimori household.
How Powerful Is the Usuba Family?
The Usuba clan is distinguished by its ability to influence other people's mental states, such as taking over someone's consciousness, manipulating their memories, controlling illusions, and even Dream Sight.
Their abilities are dangerous because they mess with other people's minds. A single error in their manipulation could easily destroy the mind of the person they use it on.
However, these one-of-a-kind abilities can only be manifested in Usuba family members. Because the Usubas have no need to engage in grotesqueries, it is normal for them to lack Spirit Sight.
Unlike other normal gift-users who are tasked with defeating grotesqueries and anything else that could harm humans, such as fiends, spirits, and the like, the Usubas target humans, particularly those who also have gifts.
They have a responsibility to prevent gift-users from abusing their power. They primarily exist as a deterrent to gift-users who could use their immense power to ruin the vast majority.
In short, the Usubas' supernatural abilities are primarily used to defeat other gift-users such as Kiyoka Kudou.
For example, a gift-user with a fire-based power might decide to burn down a town with malicious intent.
Obviously, a water-based gift user will be dispatched to stop them. But what happens when the fire-gift user outperforms the water-gift user?
This situation necessitates the deployment of a dedicated force specializing in dealing with out-of-control gift users, which is when the Usubas are summoned.
Miyo Saimori possesses the most powerful gift of all the unique gifts that manifested on the Usubas, and that is the Dream Sight. When Miyo fully masters this ability, it may even surpass the gift of Divine Revelation.
The Dream Sight has complete control over a person's slumber. It has extraordinary power, allowing its users to enter people's dreams, manipulate visions, brainwash people, see the past, present, and future in their sleep, and many other things!
