My Happy Marriage: A Meiji Cinderella Story
My Happy Marriage is a Japanese Cinderella story based on a light novel by Akumi Agitogi.
In it, we follow Miyo Saimori, the 18-year-old daughter of a well-off family. When Miyo was a child, her mother died and her father remarried.
Since Miyo's half-sister, Kaya, developed supernatural powers, Miyo, who didn't, became the family's black sheep.
Her cruel stepmother and even her own birth father have both abused and neglected Miyo for years, forcing her to spend her days toiling with housework with no prospects of a better life.
In a final harsh act, Miyo's family sells her in marriage to Kiyoka Kudo, a suitor who is notorious for driving all his previous fiancés to run away.
But Miyo soon finds out that Kudo is actually a sweet man and the first person to truly care about her happiness and well-being.
What will happen when the continual machinations of Miyo's family threaten her happy marriage?
Apart from a manga and anime adaptation, My Happy Marriage also has a live-action movie directed by Ayuko Tsukahara and written by Tomoe Kanno.
Is the My Happy Marriage Live-Action Movie on Netflix?
My Happy Marriage has an anime adaptation airing on Netflix. However, the live-action movie of the same name isn't on Netflix as of writing.
Having only aired in cinemas in March 2023, the film will likely take a little while longer to become available on streaming services.
