Stills from the upcoming series, My Demon have been released, and we are seeing a strong chemistry between the two lead stars. We're here to answer the obvious question: is there romance in My Demon K-Drama?
If you checked out the photos and trailer from the series, you may be excited to see the two characters fall in love. But do they?
Is There Romance in My Demon Kdrama?
My Demon is described as an action, fantasy, and romance comedy. So, in a nutshell, we can expect romance to thrive between the two lead characters in My Demon.
There's also mention of a contract marriage between the two, with the trailer showing Jung Gu-won (played by Song Kang) and Do Do-hee (played by Kim Yoo-jung) looking into each other's eyes lovingly.
In fact, at this rate, we'll be disappointed if the two don't end up together, given their very strong chemistry in the trailer.
Although unconventional, My Demon follows the story of a chaebol heiress whom everyone dislikes. She meets Gu-won, who turns out to be a demon.
When the two held hands, Gu-won's powers were transferred to Do-hee. And in order to protect these powers, Gu-won agrees to be her bodyguard. She even threatens to have the tattoo laser removed unless he agrees to her demands.
The two later get married as a show of convenience. And while the teaser shows the two so in love with each other, it's actually all part of their contract.
In one of the trailers, Do-hee reminds herself:
"Don't let your guard down. This isn't a real marriage, after all. Fakes usually taste sweeter."
Given the genre of the series, we can't help but think it will be a romantic comedy after all.
Why Did Song Kang Accept this K-Drama?
Would you believe that this is Song Kang's first romantic comedy series? As he revealed to Soompi:
“It was interesting because I have never tried the romantic comedy genre, and the more I read the script, the more attractive the content and the character’s lines became."
The actor then talked about his character, Gu-won:
“He is a character who takes pride in being flawless and having no shortcomings, but due to an event, he faces a turning point.”
It's exciting to see Song Kang in a romantic comedy. Hopefully, the show manages to deliver so that fans won't be disappointed with what they see.
We're so looking forward to the release of My Demon. It isn't every day we come across a brave woman who falls in love with a demon. We'll know more once the show gets released on November 24, 2023.
