With the MCU making the jump into the small screens, a newcomer enters the ever-expanding family of the franchise and a new featurette for Ms. Marvel shows the very moment that Kevin Feige himself dropped the news to Iman Vellani as she unanimously landed the role of Kamala Khan in the upcoming Disney Plus series.
Ms. Marvel gets a new featurette which shows exactly how Iman Vellani got the news that she has been cast as Kamala Khan in her very own titular series, Ms. Marvel. Titled “I’m a Super Hero,” the clip starts with the zoom meeting for Ms. Marvel in June 2020 where Kevin Feige announced to Iman how honored they are to have her as Kamala Khan.
Iman Vellani was out of words, as seen on the video, with Kevin Feige on her phone and all she could say was she could not comprehend it that very moment. Feige even said that it was a unanimous decision that she would play the role. She proceeds to declare that she is now a superhero which would be her new normal.
Vellani talks about how creative and passionate Kamala is who goes through what a teen usually faces like school, boys, and family stuff. There is also an emphasis on how she is a very big fan of Captain Marvel. Sana Amanat, co-creator of the character, puts it into an emphasis, that Iman Vellani is Kamala Khan which kind of means she owns the role.

Vellani shares that Kamala has the power to manifest light but having such would not be as simple as the alphabet. More than her abilities and the clothes she wears, the main super power of Kamala Khan is her strong heart. The featurette teases what to expect in the series with new clips from the show.
Ms. Marvel will follow the story of 16-year-old Pakistani-American teen, Kamala Khan, who idolizes Captain Marvel and deals with high school like other kids. However, she encountered a life-changing moment when she found an ancient relic that when worn on the wrist, it gives her powers like her idols.
Iman Vellani will be portraying Ms. Marvel/ Kamala Khan and will be joined by Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer, Nimra Bucha, and Laura Marsden. Reportedly, they would also be joined by Farhan Akhtar as well.
Ms. Marvel is scheduled for release on June 8, 2022, exclusively on Disney Plus.
