What is Ms. Marvel's Ethnicity?

In Ms. Marvel Episode 1, Kamala Khan is a 16-year-old Muslim Pakistani-American attending school in New Jersey who struggles to fit in. Kamala Khan is just like your average teenager who feels different in school trying to find her place, having a huge crush, wearing shirts of the people who inspire them, in her case, female Avengers, and daydreaming of what she could be.

She’s a huge fan of Captain Marvel, and finally, her dreams of being a superhero come true one day after her grandmother sent a package of some jewelries including a band that once worn, gave her powers. A Jersey girl that she is, she protects the place and she never backs down on her dream to, finally, be like her idols.

While starting off as a hero seems to be fun, when all the responsibilities come in, soon, it sucks. Kamala, herself, though she really wanted the life of a superhero, as soon as the weight of the things came down on her shoulders, she never imagined how hard must it be to become one and save others.

There were some changes in her story from the pages of the comics to the small screens, for example, her powers in the series come from a gauntlet she found in the attic while in the comics, Kamala is an Inhuman who got through terrigenesis and got her powers like that in Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD with Daisy. With the Inhumans not yet introduced in the MCU, her series could be their way in but instead, the source of her powers was changed.

Iman Vellani plays Ms. Marvel/ Kamala Khan and is joined by Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer, Nimra Bucha, and Laura Marsden. Reportedly, they would also be joined by Farhan Akhtar as well.
