The Winter 24 season is still months away, but there are already lots of shows to look forward to. Among these is Mr. Villain’s Day Off, an upcoming comedy anime that revealed new details, along with its January 2024 release date.
Details about the show were shared on its official website and X (formerly Twitter) account. The two highlights of the announcement are the new trailer and the main cast members.
Comedy Anime Mr. Villain's Day Off Features a Stellar Main Cast
Mr. Villain’s Day Off is an upcoming anime by Shin-Ei Animation and SynergySP, the same studios that worked on the A Couple of Cuckoos anime.
This series was announced earlier this year, though at the time, only its main actor was revealed.
Playing the role of the “villain” Warumono-san is Shintarou Asanuma, a VA best known for voicing Saiki Kusuo in The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.
Now, the rest of the main cast was revealed. While the manga that it’s based on may not be the most popular out there, its main cast features a lot of well-known stars.
The rest of the cast includes:
- Soma Saito (Tadashi Yamaguchi in Haikyuu!!) as Rooney
- Yuichi Nakamura (Satoru Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen) as Trigger
- Hiiro Ishibashi (Yuga Ohdo in Yu☆Gi☆Oh! Sevens) as Akatsuki Red
- Takuya Eguchi (Loid Forger in Spy x Family) as Soten Blue
- Ai Kakuma (Eris Boreas Greyrat in Mushoku Tensei) as Shinonome Pink
- Hibiku Yamamura (Asuramaru in Owari no Seraph) as Reimei Green (Sora and Mugi)
- Yuichiro Umehara (Weather Report in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean) as Yoiyami Black

Mr. Villain’s Day Off Announces January 2024 Release Date
As the title implies, Mr. Villain’s Day Off follows a villain who just wants to take a well-deserved break from trying to take over the world.
This villain is named Warumono-san, a General of an extraterrestrial force that wants to invade Earth.
Defending Earth from this force is a group of Rangers which are kind of like Power Rangers as they each have signature colors.
In this anime, Warumono-san just wants to take a day off on Earth to visit pandas in the zoo and eat ice cream, even if the Rangers continue to fight him.
Mr. Villain’s Day Off will be released in January 2024 in Japan. For now, there’s no word yet on a specific release date.
Details about where it will be streamed should be announced at a later date.
