Mortal Kombat 2021 Movie: Is Kano a Good Guy Explained

With Mortal Kombat approaching its release this year, 2021, one of the Kast shown in various releases of the film is Kano, introduced by Sonya Blade in every trailer and while it seems that he's been with the good guys like Cole and Liu Kang, it's also shown in some scenes that they fight bringing the question, is Kano a good guy?

Kano's character is portrayed by the talented and quick-witted Josh Lawson bringing into life one of the characters of the game. In various snippets, we see Kano shooting a laser through his eyes making him a threat to anyone standing in his way. Interestingly enough, Kano's origins kind of conflict with what we have seen so far for the character that he is with the good guys.

Is Kano a Good Guy in the Game?

One of the oldest characters of the game, Kano is known to be the leader of the Black Dragon clan, one who is feared by many as he is a merciless fighter. He is usually a villain in the game having formed a rivalry with Sonya Blade. In the game, Kano has an impressive resume for being a baddie throughout and even became the general of the army of Outworld.

Just with this, you know he's up to no good and his dark deeds will follow him like his very own shadow. His tenure in the game continues to be one of the villains rather than good.

Is Kano a Good Guy in the Mortal Kombat 2021 Movie?

Surprisingly, as seen in the trailers and in the synopsis as well, Kano is with the good guys as he is included in the heroes under the training with Lord Raiden in the Earthrealm. Although there seems some brewing conflict between him and Sonya while in the sand dunes, he continues to find the sanctuary of Lord Raiden and train with them.

Does this mean Kano will be one of the good guys in the film? A villain turned hero? We don't know for sure yet. Anything can happen, right? It just makes Mortal Kombat more exciting and interesting to see one of the baddies of the game journeying and training with the good side.

Also, Kano's signature eye plate seems to be missing, it could be that the film will be an introduction of his character and with all that is out in the open, he seems to be starting as a good guy.

Kano appears in Mortal Kombat premiering on April 23, 2021 in theaters and on HBO Max. For those in Canada, UK, and Australia, the film will also be available on video-on-demand platforms on the same date.
